About MatchingWell
Problem
The modern dating scene is a hellscape. Rather than helping, typical dating apps/sites tend to contribute to the problem.
- Profiles focused on images prioritizes the superficial over the substantial.
- An endless scroll offering countless filters—without the personal interactions that would introduce more realism—gives people the idea that there are more fish in the sea than there really are.
- Generally inexperienced, singles are usually not the best suited to evaluate candidates for marriage.
At MatchingWell, we believe there’s a better way. Inspired by biblical principles and the wisdom of community, our platform shifts the focus from singles searching alone to advocates: married users who care deeply about the singles in their lives. These advocates help guide, support, and introduce singles to potential matches, fostering more meaningful and intentional relationships.
This approach draws from examples in Scripture, where families and trusted community members play a central role in the process of finding a spouse. We aim to bring these values into the modern age, creating a space where relationships are built on substance, care, and community involvement.
Solution
The answer is to lift a large portion of the burden off the singles themselves and place it where it belongs: the community that cares for them.
This is the approach demonstrated in Scripture. A servant is sent to find a wife for Jacob. Naomi tells Ruth who to demonstrate interest in. Even when this is not what’s actually happening, it’s understood that it’s supposed to be what is happening—“But Samson said to his father, ‘Get her for me, for she is right in my eyes.’” (Judges 14:3). Even in the marriage between Christ and the church, the Father chooses a bride for the Son and the Father of the bride chooses her husband. Of course, these biblical examples come with a more robust notion of family than our society currently has, and creativity is needed to apply the underlying principles to the modern age.
MatchingWell is a dating website focused on advocates rather than singles. Singles may use the site for connecting with a potential spouse, but the searching, communication, and initial evaluation is left up to married users who advocate on their behalf.
